Camnels are available to Iran, India and Iraq. While they aren't as powerful as normal cavalry in that they are somewhat slower, camels have more hitpoints and armour, and also have a defensive bonus from melee cavalry units, making them an ideal early-game defensive unit and a cheap means of escorting units in circumstances where oil is lacking.
